Testimonials for past courses
I wanted to do the course because I have been very anxious most of my adult life - wanting to be able to anticipate how everything would go and then feeling nervous and like a failure when (surprise surprise) it often didn’t work out.
I often felt like I was leading a half-life - never really enjoying anything - always analysing and over worrying. If I had a busy weekend I was happy but if there wasn’t much on, the stress of not knowing what to do was overwhelming. I also had the feeling of wanting to get every task over with as quickly as possible getting irritated when daft little things would happen e.g hanging out the washing and dropping a sock on the floor. The course has helped me accept that the sock dropping is not a good or bad thing - helping me take the time to just stay in my own joyful, calm mind whatever I am doing.
I am almost terrified to say all of this as it is early days and I’ve never been very successful at doing what I know to be good for me. But this feels different as it goes hand in hand with the yoga which is an absolute joy in my life. It’s only in the last year I realise that yoga is not another exercise class but about getting to know yourself, recognising feelings and finding a way to feel well without putting yourself under pressure, finding space....it make so much sense now that bodily and mentally gently encouraging tension to go away makes you more resilient and flexible....

I started the 8 week Mindfulness Course with some experience of following guided meditation and from that, had presumed this course would be ‘easy’. I certainly hadn’t expected such a journey of personal growth. I actually feel like I have been though therapy with the support of Hugh and his infinite wisdom and the sharing of experiences along the way with a wonderful group of people.
My biggest learning was that my ‘just be happy’ approach to life had often been though gritted teeth whilst suppressing any ‘negative’ feelings. Allowing myself to feel ‘everything’ has been uncomfortable and challenging at times but I have come away with a inner confidence and belief that....it’s all okay.

About the Sukhita Meditation course
In this 8 week meditation course you will learn how to grow in awareness and connection towards feeling happy, balanced and loved within yourself. In 2 hourly weekly sessions you will learn focused and practical exercises based on principles of awareness and loving-kindness. You will be working individually, in pairs and within the group, through periods of physical stillness, movement and the power of nature. There will be opportunities to explore the philosophy underpinning modern day presentations of Mindfulness and the contribution science has given to our rational understanding of our experiential practice.
This course is the culmination of nearly 40 years of practice and over 25 years of teaching. It brings together the learning that come from secular Mindfulness (MBCT, MBSR) with the self-compassion teaching of loving kindness and forgiveness meditation and the understanding that comes from Cognitive science and philosophy.

"Tuesdays just aren't quite right any more. I gained such a huge shift in my perspective and understanding - in relation to my life, my Yoga practice and my mind body connection. Incredible to think all in 8 weeks. A wonderful course, taught with humour, compassion and such a deep understanding of both practices. I loved it !" RW Yoga Teacher
