Schedule of Dates

Hugh shares 30 years’ Mindfulness experience on this day retreat which covers an introduction to the modern science behind Mindfulness. You will learn simple Mindfulness techniques to release from patterns that keep you stuck in old behaviours and perspectives opening your awareness to wiser choices.  Use the day to explore changing your relationship to imbalances in your daily experience in order to create the life you want. The day is an opportunity to restore and develop your capacity to:
  • pay attention to yourself, your environment and those
    around you;
  • decouple unwanted emotions from behaviour; and
  • take a fresh approach to anxiety, stress, addictive behaviours, exhaustion and chronic/acute health
    conditions.

Suitable for absolute beginners as well as the more experienced you will leave with enough knowledge to start a daily practice with a CD of guided meditation.

"It was a powerful experience – transformative, even – doing Hugh Poulton's six-hour mindfulness workshop. Perceptive and good-humoured, Hugh speaks in a clear, even-handed way, using real-life examples to illuminate his ideas and effectively explaining thought processes and emotional patterns that made me see them in a new light. It felt revolutionary to slow down and take five minutes to savour a biscuit; to move around, all seven of us in the group, in companionable silence while making and then eating lunch; and later to take a break from our short meditations and intensive discussions and walk, on our own, for 20 minutes through the neighbourhood with “soft vision” and heightened senses. I took home with me some invaluable tools for coping with stress and negative thought patterns, such as how to tackle challenging tasks in a new way, how to use a gentle smile to relieve tension, and how to non-judgmentally acknowledge my relationship to my feelings — these calming tactics have lasted long beyond that enlightening, enjoyable day. To Hugh I am indebted for showing me the way towards a more balanced perspective and an awakened peace of mind. "  Leah Jewett  Spring 2014
