Yoga Unlimited founder Hugh Poulton has worked in senior roles
within operational and general management worldwide for over
20 years. He is experienced and comfortable working within
all areas and all types of organisations, Private, Public,
Government, Educational, SME, and Multinational.
Yoga:
He has practised
yoga for most of his adult life, and has trained mostly within the Ashtanga and Vipassana traditions with a wide range of international teachers both in the UK, Europe and Asia. His asana practice has been most directly influenced by Danny Paradise with whom he has studied annually since 1990. He continues to study,
and began his own teaching in 1995 and over the years has developed his distinctive teaching
style.
Mindfulness:
Hugh first learnt mindfulness meditation from the monastic Buddhist tradition of S.E. Asia
more than 30 years ago whilst living and working in Thailand. He has continued to study with
Senior Meditation teachers from Thailand, Burma and Sri Lanka on a regular basis ever
since. His studies have also included Buddhist philosophy and the emerging discipline of
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy under Professor Williams.
He has taught yoga and
meditation on a one to one basis and in groups for more than fifteen years. Hugh is a full
time registered yoga teacher and has worked as a Mindfulness Teacher at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, Oxford University Department of Psychiatry, Warneford Hospital. He has taught more than 35 Mindfulness and MBCT 8 week courses.
"Hugh is an excellent teacher; great listener and guide on your journey over the weeks of this course. There has been lots of interesting and at times serious discussion but a huge amount of fun, and laughter which I hadn't expected, but most sincerely enjoyed. It has been also useful to know that everyone's journey with themselves is neverending and the stories that Hugh has shared about his own life, practice and experience have been very informative and comforting. Great venue, materials are excellent and easy to access electronically (if you choose).

Teaching Style
"Hugh’s teachings are of great simplicity. This simplicity applies to the asanas as well as to all the other aspects of yoga, both on and off the mat. His keys are bandhas and breath as a tool of self teaching, self correcting and self healing. It is hugely suitable for people working with injury or for those working with restrictions in the physical body." Catherine Chichester Yoga Teacher and Raw Food Nutritionist.
Really is first class and very professional.".
Lesley Buckeridge 36-45 Director Fishawack Communications
They are extremely useful, well taught and I thoroughly enjoy them. I recommend yoga to my staff and patients because of the positive benefits. The class is very good value and Hugh has lots of patience with my idiosyncracies!
Charlie Winward 36-45 Clinical specialist Physio for Brain Injury
Nuffield Orthopeadic Centre NHS Trust.
Hugh is an excellent tutor. He does not expect too much from
anyone. He is very dedicated to his yoga and I admire him
for this. He also has a wonderful sense of humour - which
all tutors require.
Wendy Peake Office Manager
Hugh's class is fantastic. I look forward to it all week! Hugh is the perfect example of teaching by demonstrating and explaining the postures using the understanding he has gained through years of practice. He's inspiring.
Francine Rodrigues 26-35 Public Relations
I think that Hugh's set approach provides for beginners a safe route, through which they may progress in their own time. For more experienced students the class provides an opportunity to engage more fully. Hugh's mindful approach to the postures and locks transforms the experience of them in subtly different ways during each class. I have always found the class to be friendly and informal, non competitive and supportive.
Sarah Perry Antiquarian Bookdealer and Yoga Teacher 36-45
Hugh makes classes interesting and fun, knows everyone's abilities
and limitations and makers sure they get the best from the
class. He cares about each person.
Carol Burton
You make yourself very clear and understanding, very helpful
too.
Barbara Steele 36-45 Mother
I like the fact that the classes are non competitive and that
you progress at your own pace.
Jane King 36-45 Lecturer in Accounting
Impressed with your attention to detail and the individual
participants requirements, problems and positions during the
class. Good range of positions and explanations throughtout.
KH 36-45
Excellent supervision and explanation.
Helen Rappaport 46-55
Freelance writer and translator
I am very happy with the classes. They are relaxed and everyone
can work as hard or as gently as they wish.
Jan Kelly 36-45 Teacher
Certainly the best and most satisfying yoga classes I have
ever attended, giving a good understanding of what yoga can
do.
JB Professional Potter 36-45
I really enjoy your yoga classes because you encourage me
to focus on moving my practice on in subtle but important
ways.
Arabella Ellis Business Psychologist Director OCG Limited.
I thoroughly enjoy the classes and feel relaxed, strong and
energised afterwards. Hugh is a very clear teacher and gives
just the right amount of instruction and information to instruct
and not confuse.
